I read this. My first instinct was yeah. For sure!
And For sure something is Seriously Wrong.
What is True about this statement? and is there a sneaky Lie in there?
What is Everything but sin? Jesus. Right?
Lately I’ve been learning to try not to be offended by people. and that I should do my best to try not to be offensive either when possible.. though people will take things out of context or.. just be human. Sometimes things are hard to deal with. I think there is a time when love demands telling the truth even when it hurts. I have to have God’s spirit in me if I’m going to refrain from offence and bitterness while telling someone the truth as far as I can see it and doing so in Love.
What is “the World?”
It seems like the Bible talks about the world as being those who walk in sin. Which I think is all of us to some degree. We wont be out of sin till we have our new bodies. It’s hard to completely determine the line between the world and the church. But its there. It seems like we have the propensity to have a foot in the world so easily.
So of course the world is offended by everything but sin.. It’s the same thing as saying the church is offended by sin. They are definitive.
But what is sin?
God is Good. no one is Good but God. To him that knows to do good and does it not to him it is sin. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.. I am the way and the truth and the life.
Jesus is God. God is Love. Love is the way. Jesus is the way.
These are words we use to describe what is not sin.
So sin is everything else. Right?
Things that aren’t True,
Things that aren’t Life,
Things that aren’t Love,
Things that aren’t Jesus,
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Something is wrong when the Church takes offence of the world not being offended by “sin” and becomes bitter about it. That is not to say we have to promote sin or attempt to live in it any longer. But I need to be careful about what I’m offended by. And what I do with those emotions.
It’s so sneaky how we can fall into bitterness over what we ((sometimes) correctly) perceive as the sins of other people and in doing so find ourselves in sin of bitterness and hatred directed at people.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [a]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Don’t let the enemy take your Heavenly place.
God save me.
